Jared E-mail and Photos

Hola everyone!!  Well it was a great week here in Chile!!  I didn't get a letter from you this week Dad.  Wasn't sure if you just didn't get the time or if it did not go through or what, but just thought I would let you know!!  I sent some pictures, so hopefully those were able to get through!  This week was great because it was a baptism week!  We had the baptism of Josefina Berrios Meza.  It was a super good baptism, the spirit was really strong there and it was awesome because we got over thirty of her inactive family members to come to church and then the baptism!!  It was crazy!!  I have never seen that chapel so full!  All the family liked it a lot and all promised they would come next week for the confirmation!  So hopefully that all happens!  But it was a really good experience.  She reminds me a lot of Hannah - she is exactly the same age and acts really similar - it is pretty funny!  But anyway after the baptism we were able to go to the house of Josefina and eat with all of her family and stuff.  It reminded me a lot of the big family dinners we have - there were a ton of people there!!  So that was an awesome experience that we had this week.  We also had a baptism with the sister missionaries in our ward who baptized a 91 year old woman - that was pretty cool to see - that does not happen very often!  So we were able to have a great weekend here in Llo Lleo!!
Today we went as a zone to one of the families that live in our ward to have a grill and play football and stuff and that was pretty fun!  Didn't leave me with a whole ton of time to write letters though!!  But it is all good!!!  I hope everyone is doing great back home!!  I love and miss you all!!  Have a great week this week!!!

(Note - I did send four e-mails with photos and one with a letter.  Jared's sisters got the copies.)

Hola!  Well it sounds like everyone is doing great back home!!  Thanks for the pictures Dad.  I really cannot believe how big Cayden is!!  Man, he is growing up a ton!!  And those were some sweet costumes they used haha..  And those are awesome pictures of Mason! haha.  Good to know my nephew is a super hero!!  Hey Dad.. I've got a new project for you - you should get like a photo album thing and put a bunch of pictures of all the families and all my nieces and nephews and of you guys in it.. People are always asking for pictures to see and I don't really have any good ones, so that would be sweet if you could do that!!  I need to show people how happy my family is so they start listening to the message haha..  That is actually a part of the new way to teach what President was telling us.  Like there is not a big change, just a couple little things that help a lot, like using the pamphlets more in our teaching and showing our families and the blessings we have received from it and stuff, and leaving them with a baptismal fecha (date) on the first lesson just stuff like that!  And just those little changes have actually been helping a ton!  It is pretty sweet.. Our President changed our baptismal meta (goal) for the month as a mission from 42 to105 because that is how many companionships we have in the mission.  He said to pray for miracles and we will get the goal - well we are actually well on our way for the goal.  It is pretty cool, this guy is super excited about the work and it has been helping a lot.  It is pretty sweet to see all the changes that have been happening for the good!
Well my week this week was pretty good!!  One of our recent converts did have a fight with one of our fechas that was super strong and she said she won't receive the Church anymore in her life - that was pretty sad - not sure why she blamed it on the church but that is how people are sometimes, I guess!  We have definitely been praying a lot for her.  I hope everything turns out alright and she changes her mind - she was way good! But miracles happen haha, so we are just hoping!
Me and Elder Buckhannon have still been doing great together - wish I could stay with this kid my whole mission haha... We are seriously just dominating it here!  We get along super good and have been having a ton of fun.  The mission life is pretty great right now!!  Our baptism for this week fell through because her mom was not gonna be able to be there, but we are doing it this Sunday for sure, so we are pretty excited about that!  Hopefully everything goes good there!!  This week we found a huge hill that had a couple of houses on top and we felt that we should go up it.  It took us a good hour to get to the top and there was no one home at any of the houses, so I thought my adventure bone made us lose a lot of time, but then when we were walking back down about 5 minutes later we saw a house that we had missed so we yelled and a guy came out. Anyway, he is golden - it was super awesome!!  But he lives in Santiago a lot of the time so that is the problem, but it was just really cool cause he said he had talked to missionaries a long time ago but then lost contact with them but that he liked the Church a lot. so we were able to have a good lesson with him.  Hopefully we can keep in contact with that guy - never had anybody so interested at our first lesson -  it was awesome :)
Anyway!  Things are going great here!!  I am loving the mission for sure right now!  Really starting to be able to teach better and stuff, which makes it super nice!!
I hope everyone is doing great back home!  Thanks for all the support and prayers! Have a great week this week everyone!  And good luck with your new calling Dad and Mom - sweet, we are really in the same work now, haha..
les quiero mucho!

Well, it was another great week here in Llo Lleo!  I am loving being here on the coast a ton! And it looks like the weather in Colorado is a lot worse than here in Chile!!  This week the weather was great!  Like it never got too cold.  Me and my comp bought some sweet new sweaters so we have just been using those a lot - not even a jacket or anything, pretty dang nice for winter!!
That was great to hear about Gracie's baptism!!  Crazy that she is already 8 - that went super fast!  And that Hannah is in Young Womens??  Wow!!  I still feel like I should be in the Deacons Quorum! haha.  And man I don't know what I am gonna do when I get home.  I really can't spell anymore!!  Spanish has messed my English up a ton!  I am gonna have to take some basic spelling classes I guess!!
Ward Mission Leader huh!!  That is what I'm talking about!  Wow, that is crazy that you were in Young Mens for 6 and a half years!  That went by way fast too!  Feels like just 2 or 3!  But that is awesome about the Ward Mission Leader..  I didn't really realize the importance of one of those until I got here to Llo Lleo.  Our Ward Mission Leader actually works a lot with us and that makes life so much easier!  It really does make all the difference!  At least in this part of the world!  And I am sure it is just as important there!  That will be great to see you working as Ward Mission Leader haha.
That is too bad you guys weren't able to do your hike on your birthday!  I was telling my comp that my parents are climbing a big mountain for my Dad's 60th birthday, and I think he got a little worried about you, haha.  I guess you guys ain't the normal 60 year-olds!  which is a good thing! :)
Man that is too bad about Megan!  That has got to stink a little bit!  I hope everything is going good now though!  Looked pretty good in the pic!  Doesn't look like you just had surgery!!  But I hope you are good now!!
Well, as far as the missionary work this week everything was really good!  Me and my comp are still working super good together and seeing lots of success!  We have a baptism this Sunday, so I hope that all goes good!  Should be sweet!  And we have been able to put dates with a lot of other people.  As a district this week, it was crazy, we went from having 3 as a district to 14! That is how the whole Mission has been doing!  We had a meeting with President about a new way to teach the first lesson and well, I guess it works haha.  The Mission is doing awesome right now!  So that is pretty sweet to see!  Hopefully everybody goes through!
Yesterday we went with our ward Mission Leader to give his dad a blessing.  He lives way out in the campo in our sector, and he takes care of this big mansion that some rich guy owns - he even has his own private Catholic Church there, haha.  It was pretty sweet!  I will send some pics of it!  It was really pretty. It is weird going from the average Chilean house into one of those.  It really is not anything too special compared to an American house, but for here it is just weird!!  But that was really cool to see and we were able to talk to his dad and a lot of his family about the church and stuff.  He is the only member in his family of 15 brothers and sisters, or something like that!  So he has got a lot of work to do with them haha..
Well today for p-day I think that we are gonna go head to the beach and just have a nice relaxing day!  It is nice and warm today so it should be pretty fun!
I hope everyone is doing great back home!  Thanks for all the prayers!  They are definitely helping :)
Les quiero mucho!  Tengan una buena semana!! :)
