Hola!! Well! It was a great week this week! Thanks for sending all the pictures and the
letter and stuff Dad! Looks like we are
gonna get some rain so I am pretty happy about that one!! Sounds like you guys have been super busy
getting all Grandmas stuff ready and visiting a bunch of people and stuff! Look likes lots of traveling. And those are some pretty sweet pics of the Tetons
- you said you missed the good light, but it looks pretty good to me, haha. Pretty impressive.
I think I
told you guys, but I might have forgotten. President changed our schedule so
that we have to enter into the house at nine and we have to get up at 6:30 like
the rest of the missionaries in the world. It was nice being able to wake up at 7:30.
It was super easy to get up on time. At first the change was a little tough, but I
am liking it a lot now! Think I am changing into a little bit of an early bird!
I think it is a good habit to have though
- definitely can get more stuff done that is for sure! And some other good news - we did get to move houses this week!!! Wahoo!! It was getting pretty nasty in the little
apartment - four guys in a small space starts to smell not so nicely. But now we are in a big nice house - just us
two, haha. Feels kinda empty but it has
been super nice to have the space. It
does get way cold in the mornings and at night, but I cannot complain at all! We have our own closet! And our own bathroom! That has made life super nice! And there is a running machine thing and a
keyboard. I have been practicing the
simple hymns a little bit so we will see where I get to, haha.
Well the
best thing that happened this week was the baptism of Silvia and Winston!!! Armando did not quite make it, but we are
gonna try to do it this week or the next. He is almost there, but just not quite ready. But the baptism of Silvia and Winston turned
out super good! There were a bunch of
people there - never have seen that many people at a baptism before. There were about 60 that came and the best
part there were at least 20 non-members. Winston invited a bunch of his family and
friends and they all came! A lot of them
were crying and felt the spirit really strong so that was awesome! And Silvia also had some friends come that
were not members so that was really good too, and we had some great support
from the ward, so that was a plus. It
usually does not happen like that, so we were very happy with the turnout. Elder Caballero had the opportunity to baptize
Silvia and I was able to baptize Winston so it was a great opportunity for us! They are both great people who will help out
the ward a lot too. Winston has been investigating the Church for a year and a
half, so he has a very strong testimony. He has got a ton of potential.
It was
also cool cause all of his friends that were there all speak perfect English! They all study English Literature in the University
with Winston, so I was able to talk to them all a lot and it looks like we are
gonna be able to send some good referrals too. Anyway it was a great weekend. Lots of miracles and good stuff!
And Dad,
the picture of the poor houses - well that is just a tiny little thing they have.
Maybe 50 to a hundred people live there, and I have only seen a couple of those
in Chile. One just happens to be in my
sector and no, we do not enter into that, because that is where the drugs
and the murders all are - people always get shot and stabbed there, and one missionary
got robbed at gun point walking by there, so we just keep our distance, haha. But they don't really leave, and they are just
in their own world there.
Well It
was great to hear form you this week! I
hope that you all are doing good!! I love and miss you all! Have a great week this week! :)
Happy Birthday Elder Vance!
This is what I thought all the houses in Chile
would look like.
